We are pleased to offer Level 3 Dyslexia/Specific Learning Difficulties Practitioner Award

The course is delivered online. Assessment is online.

This course can be accessed and paid for in stages:

Level 3 standalone Continued Professional Development option for £550 (+ VAT often refundable for schools/colleges/charities.

Level 3 OCN assessment tasks £250 (+ VAT often refundable for schools/colleges/charities)
Prices are valid until April 31st 2018

Units of Work:

Unit 1:  Understand the Context of a Provision for Learners with Dyslexia/Specific Learning Difficulties

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand the terminology used when learning about dyslexia/specific learning difficulties (SpLD)
  2. Understand the barriers facing learners with dyslexia/SpLD and possible support strategies.

Assessment Criteria

1.1 Explain what is meant by the term ‘disability’ as covered in the Equalities Act 2010.

1.2 Explain the meaning of the terms ‘dyslexia’ and ‘specific learning difficulties’.

1.3 Explain the term ‘best practice’ in the context of supporting learners with dyslexia/specific learning difficulties (SpLD)

2.1 Explain at least four potential barriers that learners with dyslexia/spld can experience

2.2 Evaluate the most suitable support strategies to help learners with dyslexia/spld for each barrier identified.

Unit 2: Planning, teaching and reviewing interventions for learners with dyslexia/specific learning difficulties.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand how to evaluate an intervention programme for learners with dyslexia/specific learning difficulties (SpLD)
  2. Understand the qualities required of a dyslexia friendly practitioner
  3. Be able to prepare case studies for two learners
  4. Be able to carry out assessments to inform a teaching programme
  5. Be able to develop teaching programmes
  6. Be able to evaluate the delivery and outcome of lessons

 

Assessment Criteria

1.1 Evaluate an intervention programme related to published version or own resources for intervention carried out in the learner’s own setting

2.1 Complete an audit of personal skills in terms of dyslexia friendly practice

2.2 Analyse own dyslexia friendly practice in own educational setting

3.1. Collate background information about two learners

3.2 Summarise the content of an observation session carried out with two individual learners

4.1 Carry out assessments for two learners

4.2 Analyse these learner assessments to accurately plot and plan teaching tasks

5.1 Develop three ten-minute lesson plans

6.1 Evaluate own performance when delivering lessons in terms of teaching methods and resources

6.2 Evaluate the lesson outcomes in terms of learner progress and SMART lesson targets set.
